Renault 4 and the "4L International" event

This year, as the Renault 4 celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, one thousand 4L from all over Europe or even further will gather from 15th to 17th July at Thenay in the centre of France for the third consecutive 4L International event, bringing "blue jeans car" enthusiasts together over two days.

Participants will enjoy the surprises that Renault Classic, the event's partner, has in store for them, most of all the presence of Jean Ragnotti - who will present the lucky winner of a prize draw with the Renault 4 that he drove at the last Monte Carlo Historical Rally. A selection of exceptional Renaults from the Renault collection or private collections will also be on show.

However, Renault 4 number one thousand and one will no doubt catch the visitors eyes.
While the blue jeans car has made a name for itself for many different reasons over its long and successful career (8,135,424 vehicles sold in over 100 countries over 31 years on the market), this is the very first time it will be given a 290hp engine to try and reach the straight-line speed of 280kph!

Les Triplettes de Bonneville and Renault Classic will in fact be showing off a Renault 4 Fourgonnette van, known as Saline4Fun, for the very first time. The vehicle will be taking part in Speed Week at Salt Lake City (Utah) from 13th-19th August, where the goal will be to beat a speed record on the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats.

These events are all part of the festivities planned this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the Renault 4, an emblematic model for the diamond brand.

The 4L International

For the third year running, the 4L International meeting, bringing together enthusiasts from all over Europe and beyond, will be held at Thenay in the centre of France, in the heart of the Loire Valley tourist region.

The event has been backed by 4L Magazine and Renault Classic since it was founded.
4L International is an opportunity for enthusiasts to:

- meet and admire the vehicles of the various participants,
- watch demonstrations given by well-known drivers and personalities who have a connection with the Renault 4,
- see the vehicles displayed by Renault Classic,
- discover the region during a tourist rally,
- buy and sell parts and accessories in the market village.
- major contribution from Renault Classic who will show off around fifteen Renault 4,
- a raffle where the star prize is the Renault 4 driven by Jean Ragnotti at the Monte Carlo Historical Rally 2011,
- a number of games and competitions,
- a concert on the Saturday evening.

For the 50th anniversary of the Renault 4, the event will be even more spectacular with:

The Saline4Fun

The project
The project headed by Les Triplettes de Bonneville aims to celebrate the cars 50th anniversary with an unlikely version of the Renault 4 F4 on the legendary salt lake at Bonneville in the USA, in August 2011.

To achieve their objective, theyve had to:

- increase the vehicles performance with a new power train,
- ensure the vehicle is compliant with SCTA regulations,
- transport it over to the USA and drive it on the salt at Bonneville.

Although Les Triplettes have taken care of the last two prerequisites, they needed all Renault Classics expertise to fulfil the first requirement.

An unlikely Renault 4
The passion and the enthusiasm of Les Triplettes de Bonneville are ideally suited to the Renault 4. This new challenge (increasing the vehicle's performance with a new power train) will bring yet another dimension to the multi-functional 4L yet and Renault Classic is taking up the challenge with them.

Les Triplettes and Renault Classic have agreed to maintain the vehicles original appearance.

After hesitating for a while about the mechanics, they finally opted for a Renault 5 Turbo engine, loaned temporarily by a model from the collection. Renault Classic is fitting the engine to the Renault 4, adapting and fitting a specific gearbox, adapting the platform, the steering, suspension and braking components, the wiring harness and the petrol supply circuit, and preparing the paint and bodywork. Renault Sport Technologies is helping Renault Classic, providing advice and support (on the electrical harness in particular).

And hence the Saline4Fun is born!

Outside, only a very reduced ground clearance and a few "details such as the exhaust coming out of the front right-hand wing or the parachute roof hatch suggest that this fun-looking van offers better performance than a regular Renault 4 van, like the ones used by tradesmen and company fleets in the past.

Presentation of the Speed Week
The SCTA (Southern California Timing Association) has organised Speed Week on the Salt Lake located 160km to the east of Salt Lake City since 1949. Each summer, some of the lakes water evaporates, leaving salt flats that are ideal for speed racing. The only disadvantage is the 1,200m altitude which isnt good for engine performance, and temperatures nearing 45.

For one week every year, over 500 competitors try and beat the land speed record, in cars or on motorbikes and sometimes in trucks. There are many different categories according to the type of vehicle, its age and how it has been transformed.

The runs (record attempts) take place on one of three tracks, fitted with time control cells every mile. If your speed beats the current record in your category, the car is enclosed to a fenced-off area. The next morning, all the competitors whose vehicles have been sent to this area have to repeat their performance and, if your average of the two "runs" still beats the record, the title is yours!

2011 event
Everything will begin with the two days of technical inspection on the 11th and 12th August.

Then, on the 13th, the opening ceremony will take place to officially launch the race week. The runs will come to an end at midday on 19th August and the records will be awarded.

Les Triplettes de Bonneville

Three childhood friends, Jean Caillou, Gilles Pujol, and Frank Figuls, joined by Bernard Canonne, all 4L enthusiasts, founded Les Triplettes de Bonneville

Their achievements:
13 car and motorbike records, in various categories.

Les Triplettes hold:

- the first French car record at Bonneville since Renault in 1956 (records FIA),
- the first French SCTA record,
- the first French SCTA motorbike record,
- the first French female SCTA record,

The Renault 4: 50 years and counting!

100,000th van rolls out by SoVAB plant of Renault

The 100,000th big van rolled out of Renault's SoVAB plant (Socit de Vhicules Automobiles de Batilly) in eastern France on Monday, July 11. The landmark figure speaks volumes for the vehicle's success, and orders for Renault Master have increased by 40 percent compared to the same period in 2010. The brand's 14 percent share of Europe's big van market up to end-May 2011 represents a rise of two points and 16 percent over the first five months of 2010. And this success isn't restricted to Europe either, since it is mirrored in the Euromed[1] region where the vehicle enjoys a market share of 17.9 percent (up 49 percent).

The SoVAB plant has pulled out all the stops to meet this growing demand which has resulted in full order books. Production rates have risen sharply, while 90 people were taken on during the first half of the year, allowing the factory to run two-and-a-half shifts. Everything is now in place for the unprecedented production rate of 600 vehicles per day to be reached by the last quarter of 2011.

"A remarkable team effort"
From New Master's launch to the availability of all 350 versions of the van in all its markets took a little more than one year, a remarkably short period of time given the immense challenge it represented in manufacturing terms. Indeed, while the broad variety of variants means that the needs of business customers are comprehensively covered, it has naturally made production more complex. "All those involved in the project produced a remarkable team effort," says Pierre Monflier, Factory Director. "Their unfailing commitment and motivation enabled us to make all 350 variants of New Master available in time. That's an achievement we can be proud of, and our biggest reward is the response of our customers which has resulted in full order books."

"The Renault network is a big plus!"
The 100,000th vehicle was delivered to the Colas Group which took delivery of its New Master at SoVAB's premises on Monday, July 11. Philippe Brissonneau, the Group's Equipment Director, explained his firm's choice of a New Master chassis cab which will go on to be converted into a dropside platform by Renault Tech: "We have worked with Renault for some years. Indeed, Renault is a fairly straightforward choice because our activity calls for reliable vehicles which match our needs at the lowest possible price. Renault has always met those requirements. We are convinced that this New Master will be even better than its predecessor, which is a vehicle we know very well. Being able to depend on Renault's network is obviously a big plus, too!"

Renault Master: an office on wheels
New Master is the third generation of Renault's big van. In addition to the range's breadth, the model features extensively revised, robust styling and sharply lower running costs (down 40 percent), thanks notably to the fuel efficiency of the new M9T engine which is made in Clon, France. New Master is also more driver-friendly, while work has gone into stowage solutions and innovations like pivoting and retractable tables, Carminat TomTom Live navigation and Bluetooth connectivity that make the cabin a genuine office on wheels.

In addition to New Master's success with its customers, the model has also been acclaimed by the trade's professionals:

- Business Vehicle of the Year 2011 (LAutomobile et Entreprise, France).
- Utility Vehicle of the Year 2011 (LArgus, France).
- Van of the Year 2011 in Denmark and Lithuania.
- Van of the Year 2011 (What Van?, Great Britain)
- Van of the Year 2010 (Van Fleet World Honours, UK).
- Transporter of the Year 2010 (Kep, Germany).

THE SOVAB FACTORY (Socit des Vhicules Automobiles de Batilly)

- Established in France's Meurthe et Moselle region in 1979.
- 2,350 staff with unlimited-term contracts (as of May 31, 2011)
- 1,802,410 vehicles manufactured since 1980.
- The factory has manufactured Masters since the model's first generation in 1980
- It is the only factory to produce New Renault Master.
- SoVAB also assembles the New Opel Movano.

New Renault Frendzy: a MPV for the family

Renaults latest concept car has a dual personality. These days, professional and personal lives are so intricately interwoven that drivers find themselves permanently channel-hopping between one world and the other. The role of FRENDZY is to be a partner that takes the strain out of this lifestyle.

Axel Breun, Design Director, Concept and Show Cars: FRENDZY is the must-have vehicle for flexibility and versatility. It is efficient and modern as a work tool, yet sporting and warmly welcoming for the family.

On the outside
On the passengers side, theres no glazing and no centre pillar, just one conventional door and one sliding side door which incorporates a 37-inch widescreen display. This is the world of work. The drivers side, complete with side windows, still no centre pillar, but with centre opening doors represents the world of the family. Ease of loading and ease of entry go without saying in both worlds!

Exterior designer, Deyan Denkov:
"The concept of an asymmetric body design was the most logical way to express this vehicles two roles. From the very start, I wanted to move away from the traditional format for commercial vehicles and, in doing so, show that this type of vehicle could also be more emotional, more dynamic and more attractive. I took inspiration from a wide variety of sources, including unconventionally shaped aircraft such as the Airbus Beluga and the Antonov 224.

On weekdays, FRENDZY is a vehicle that adapts to the requirements of the business user, with a large external screen that can display useful messages or information (such as making deliveries or back in five minutes, the battery-charging method or the remaining charge) or advertising messages, either whilst parked or on the move. Come the weekend, the vehicle transforms itself into a family vehicle, with a comfortable passenger seat and, in the rear, a big bench seat. Depending on their mood of the moment, children can watch a film or play games on the touch-sensitive pad which slides out from the back of the drivers seat. They can even draw on a special slate integrated into the sliding door.

The driver, likewise, can adapt the vehicle to his or her needs. In work mode, the rear-view mirrors sit upright and the interior lighting is green; in family mode, the mirrors swivel round to the horizontal position and the interior is bathed in a radiant orange ambience. Coloured repeater lights in the headlamps and tail lights provide an external indication of the mode in which FRENDZY is operating.

With FRENDZY, Renault - as Europes light commercial vehicles market leader for the past 13 years - is once again able to showcase the practicality, modularity and versatility already proven by the Kangoo, Trafic and Master on our roads today.
On the inside The drivers side cockpit is designed along the theme of a futuristic work bench featuring a structure which appears to be made from molten metal. Green light emanating from the dashboard brings this smooth and organic architecture to life. These lights signify the work mode and tie in with the colour displayed on the exterior of the vehicle.

In the family mode, the atmosphere becomes warmer as the green lights turn orange - a subtle reference to the colour of the previous concept car, the family-oriented R-Space.

Dominant throughout is the sense that the interior forms a cosy cabin which echoes the simple yet practical world of camping, and this is further reflected by extensive use of wood. Indeed, as much a symbol of warmth as it is of strength and timelessness, wood forms a link between the two modes. The leather latticework seats and removable accessories also refer to the camping metaphor.

Antoine Gnin, Design Director, Interior and Colour/Materials:
"Our research into materials centred on the area where the technology of industry meets the cosy softness of the family nest. This modern combination of wood and metal picks up on Renaults strategic design values of simplicity, sensuousness and warmth.

On a practical level, the fabric roof adapts itself to the shape of bulky objects, magnetic fixings allow the load to be secured to the floor, and modular stowage systems are a practical bonus for business users. The single-piece rear seat is integrated into the floor, while the front seat folds forward in order to free up space. Thanks to its practical, modular interior, FRENDZY lends itself perfectly to the requirements of traders and tradesmen.

Interior designer Ana Zadnik explains:
The interior of the vehicle reflects its double identity: on the one hand, it provides a roomy, uncluttered cargo carrying space and, on the other hand, a space thats fun and interactive and which seats up to four people. The organic volumes of the dashboard and rear door panels are extruded by strikingly shaped nozzles, which become receptors for accessories, which can be plugged directly into the dashboard and door panels.

An innovative office on wheels
The user-friendly layout of the drivers environment and tablet turn FRENDZY into a truly interactive and communicative tool. The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet recently launched by Research In Motion (RIM), plugged into the dashboard, has enabled the concept of an office on wheels to become reality. BlackBerry PlayBook is ultra-portable (seven-inch touchscreen, 425g in weight, measuring 130mm x 194mm x 10mm), yet it delivers advanced performance, uncompromised web browsing with support for Adobe Flash, HD multimedia, advanced security features and out-of-the-box enterprise support.

BlackBerry PlayBook can allow users to benefit from an effective workplace and unrestricted mobility while on the go. This makes it particularly well suited to neighbourhood deliveries and local craftsmen, for whom it is a genuine work tool, both inside and outside of the vehicle.

The tablet connects directly into the centre console, ensuring perfect convenience of operation once on the move. As soon as it is plugged in, it becomes an integral element of the vehicle and configures itself into the Renault environment. Continuity of work is assured once the device is removed, and it can of course be used for all of the renowned BlackBerry PlayBook tablet features.

The device has an important role to play, too, in the customization of the vehicle as it controls the exterior screen while the vehicle is in motion and when parked, for business as well as for personal uses - pictograms illustrating life with electric vehicles, or the viewing of a film, for example.

Sensors located on each door sill log the loading or unloading of packages equipped with RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) chips containing key information such as destination address, weight and dimensions. This gives users a real-time inventory of the goods being carried in their vehicle. In addition, tradesmen can automatically calculate or re-calculate their itineraries on the basis of this information.

FRENDZY - a commercial vehicle thats also electric
Like DeZir, which was unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, FRENDZY is an electric vehicle.
As for FRENDZYs powertrain, it is the same as that of Kangoo Z.E., although the charging point - located under the Renault logo at the front of the vehicle - is identical to that on ZOE Preview.

The chief new feature of FRENDZY as an electric vehicle is the extensive work that has gone into the sounds it produces. This work was carried out in conjunction with IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique / Musique). Electric vehicles are silent, so one of the big challenges facing Renault is customizing the sound they produce for safety reasons, notably at slow speeds.

The collaboration between Renault and IRCAM began with the creation of a sporty sound for DeZir which conveys the driving enjoyment associated with the car. In the case of FRENDZY, the aim was to produce a custom sound which corresponds with the new concept cars calling as an office on wheels.

FRENDZYs dual personality prompted Renault and IRCAM to develop a broad range of sounds. The programme has led to a variety of sounds that are emitted both inside and outside of the vehicle to ensure that everyone can tell whether it is in business or passenger car mode, thanks simply to its sound signature.

More impressive still, it is possible to distinguish the passenger side (the world of work) from the drivers side (the world of the family) merely by the sound produced by FRENDZY.

Renault Twingo R1 for the MSA British Rally Championship

Renault Sport Technologies will launch two single make rally championships in the UK starting next year. The UK Twingo R1 and R2 Trophies will run alongside the MSA British Rally Championship, following each event across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man from 2012.

Renault is unique in being the only manufacturer to have a car homologated in each of the three FIA two wheel drive classes. R1 to IRC may not be the catch phrase that defines the new Twingo Trophies, but it is the key principle behind the initiative, which will focus not only on providing close competition, but also give drivers an opportunity to progress through the categories in Renault rally cars.

The Twingo Trophy cars will be based on the 133hp Twingo Renaultsport and are aimed at budget conscious buyers, coming in the form of motorsport kits featuring all the required parts.

The Twingo R1 Trophy, cars from which can participate in all regional, national and international rallies, is based on a production car fitted with essential safety equipment, the R1's 133hp 1.6 litre engine and gearbox being identical to the production model.

The Trophy organisers will provide spares and technical support for R1, R2 and R3 Renaults on all rounds of the UK Trophies, forming a Renault village in the service areas.

The prize structure is yet to be confirmed but is likely to take the form of parts vouchers on each event, plus overall prizes for each of the Twingo R1 Trophy, Twingo R2 Trophy and for the highest placed Clio R3 driver registered in the MSA British Rally Championship.

The overall prizes will be geared to progression from R1 to IRC, helping each winner to move forward in their rally careers. Prices for the kits and parts are also to be confirmed, but will be in line with European price lists as Italy, Spain and Switzerland all have Renault one make rally series.

RENAULT Sport Technologies CEO, Patrice Ratti said:
Renault Sport Technologies intensifies its presence in UK rallying and the creation of a Trophy for Twingo in R1 and R2 categories makes me very happy. The remarkable road holding abilities of Twingo Renaultsport 133 will help young rally drivers to compete in a national championship, at an affordable price. This new trophy will reinforce the image of Renaultsport cars in the UK market which is extremely important for our brand and where Renault Sport Technologies has been enjoying a constant growth in the recent years."

The championships will be managed by former BRC Press Officer Simon Moss who has plenty of experience of one makes. Previously the Press Officer for Peugeot Sports 206 Super Cup and Fiats Stilo Rally Cup, he has worked in the motorsport industry for over 20 years.

I became involved in one-makes in 1999 when I co-drove in the 106 Cup and with a mechanical background I think Ive seen the sport from most angles. I think the controlled environment of any one make series is an excellent place for talent to shine and after seeing the Twingos in the BRC for two years, I think the series will provide great focal point for competition.

Two customer days are planned in the near future, the first expected to be around the Ulster Rally in Northern Ireland in mid August, the second running alongside the BRC Open Day in early September.

Williams and Renault, Formula One partnership from 2012

Renault Sport F1, the F1 division of Renault, will supply AT&T Williams with its championship-winning V8 power units for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. In addition to the supply of its Formula One engines, the newly-formed alliance includes several other exciting business and marketing opportunities, with a view to continuing after the introduction of the new, energy efficient, turbocharged V6 engines in 2014.

The partnership is an exciting opportunity for both Renault Sport F1 and AT&T Williams. The original Anglo-French alliance enjoyed a hugely successful association between 1989 and 1997, yielding four Drivers and five Constructors titles and 63 race wins. It also produced some of the most evocative images of the 1990s, including Nigel Mansells British Grand Prix win in 1992; Alain Prosts fourth world title and the classic duels between Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher.

Renault Sport F1 president, Bernard Rey, commented, Renault remains in Formula One to achieve success in a cost efficient way and the partnership with Williams has great potential to add to the results we have notched up over recent years with our other partner teams. Williams has recently taken several important steps, both commercially and technically, to update its operations and we feel that this partnership is another important step in its rigorous plan. It reiterates how determined the team is to achieve results, which matches perfectly with our own objectives.

From 2012 onwards the fact that we will have four partners puts us ahead of other engine manufacturers in terms of market share, but off track it will also enable us to further use Formula One as a marketing platform for our parent company, Renault, to try to bring a bit of this association to our fans and our customers worldwide.

Of course theres also a great pride in reviving the Williams-Renault name. Together, we produced racing cars that are recognised for their technical innovation and it is still Renaults most successful period in F1 to date. Its a hugely exciting opportunity for both Renault and Williams.

Frank Williams, Team Principal of AT&T Williams, added, We are delighted and excited by our new partnership with Renault. This reunites the F1 team with a leading car manufacturer and complements our new relationship with Jaguar. At the same time, we are grateful to Cosworth: they have been a fair and reliable partner both on and off the track for the past two years and we look forward to working with them across our business in the future.

Our previous relationship with Renault was one of the most successful in Williams history but we will not allow ourselves to dwell too much on the past. We must look to the future and continue to re-build our on-track reputation, which I am hopeful that todays announcement will help us to do.

Q&A WITH ADAM PARR, CHAIRMAN, WILLIAMS F1

Q. Williams F1 have confirmed a return to Renault engines. How many years is the initial partnership for and what can you tell us about the terms of the agreement?
AP: This partnership is for the long-term. It will see Renault provide Williams with its championship-winning RS27 V8 engines for 2012 and 2013. Meanwhile we are already working on an extension for the new engine formula which arrives in 2014.

Q. Why did Williams F1 choose Renault?
AP: Renault is serious about success and so are we. They compete in Formula One because its at the cutting edge of developing technologies and because it is the pinnacle of motorsport. This is also why we compete in the sport and together we believe we can return AT&T Williams to our former competitiveness.

Q. How did the deal with Renault come about and what does this mean for Williams F1 as a business?
AP: For Williams, it has been a strategic priority to align ourselves with world-class automotive companies. Just two months ago we announced our partnership with Jaguar to create the C-X75 supercar together a project that we both expect will lead onto a more general collaboration on high-performance road vehicles. Today, we have announced a partnership with Renault: they are not only making a Championship-winning engine, but they are independent, totally committed to Formula One and, of course, there is a resonance and heritage to Williams-Renault that creates a real buzz for both of us. So, in a short period we have signed two critical partnerships which will (literally and figuratively) power us forwards in coming years.

Q. How will the Renault announcement affect the development of the FW34?
AP: Of course, changing engines requires extra work, but with relatively stable regulations for 2012, the change gives us an extra opportunity for development. We have a very capable Design Office led by Ed Wood and they will be working with Renaults technicians, who are some of the finest in the world. Development of the FW34 is progressing well and the timing is not going to be an issue for the team. This announcement also coincides well with the recruitment of Mike Coughlan, Jason Somerville and Mark Gillan to the technical team. Together with Ed Wood, we believe we have now the right technical leadership and engine to help us take the next step.

Q. AT&T Williams will be the fourth team that Renault supplies engines to. Is this a problem?
AP: Not at all. Given the massive investment that Renault has made in its V8 and will make in the V6, they need a decent group of teams to supply remember that they do not have their own team and so linking up with a number of successful chassis makers is essential. In addition, the number of engines now used each season is very small. From over 200 per team a decade ago we are now down to about a tenth of that. From 2014 it may well drop by half again. Also with limited, single-car testing four teams gives Renault much more data for reliability and whatever development will be allowed in the future. Renault has always shown total integrity in offering parity to its partners and that is another essential factor for all of us.

Q. This new partnership means you will be ending your relationship with Cosworth. How will this affect the relationship with Cosworth for the remainder of the 2011 season?
AP: We had an understanding with Cosworth that continuing beyond this year was dependent on the longer-term prospects with the new engine. So, this was foreseen. Having said that, Cosworth is an excellent engine partner. We are enormously grateful to them for all the hard work they have put into our partnership and we know that they will continue to work tirelessly for the remainder of this year. Whilst the end of the season will be the end of our on-track relationship with Cosworth, we are looking forward to working closely with them on our Jaguar project and continuing our partnership in this way.

Q. The last Williams-Renault partnership (1989 1997) was one of the most successful periods in the teams history. Therefore there is a lot of expectation following its revival. Does this put more pressure on the team to improve its performance on the racetrack?
AP: We constantly put pressure on ourselves to improve our performance regardless of expectations. Were not satisfied with just finishing races or picking up a few points, our aim is to win and we want to put ourselves back in a position to do so. Clearly our performance at the moment is not where would like it to be, but we are doing all we can to rectify that and this partnership is another step in that process. This partnership is about the future. In a sense, it is about earning the right to inherit the past.

Q. Williams F1 has projects with Porsche, Jaguar Land Rover and now has a deal with Renault. Are there any plans to make a road car with Renault?
AP: Todays announcement is about a Formula One engine partnership. Our venture with Jaguar is to produce a supercar but it does not preclude us from entering into arrangements that do not compete with the C-X75. Lets see

Q. Will this deal benefit the team sponsorship-wise?
AP: Absolutely. It will bring technical and commercial benefits for Williams and for those interested in being part of this amazing project. Who would not want to be part of it?

New Renault Twingo RS Silverstone GP

Following the recent launch of the flagship 265hp Trophy version of Mgane Renaultsport, its two smaller, but no less thrilling, performance siblings, Twingo and Clio Renaultsport, now welcome their own top-of-the-range versions, the Silverstone GP limited editions, on sale from 1st July 2011.

Renault UK has an existing relationship with Silverstone, the countrys most famous motor racing circuit and home of the British Grand Prix, through a fleet of Renaultsport trackday experience cars and the venue for several of the performance divisions trackdays, so it was only natural that the French marque took it as its latest inspiration.

Both new models have been specifically created for the UK market, still the largest home of Renaults hot hatches worldwide, with only 50 of each available. The effusive Twingo Renaultsport 133, costs 14,995, while the top-of-the-range Clio Renaultsport 200 comes in at 19,995. With a wealth of extra equipment over the standard Renaultsport versions on which theyre based, both limited editions offer exceptional value-for-money, combined with added exclusivity.

Both cars share the same purposeful stance, as if they were specifically honed to grace the Silverstone tarmac. Each sits on lowered Cup Chassis with a striking combination of silver metallic paint and contrasting Deep Black details, including 17 alloy wheels (Speedline on the Clio), roof and door mirrors. Completing the exclusive look, both of the new limited edition Renaultsports also feature extra-tinted rear windows and Silverstone GP B-pillar badges inscribed with the new grand prix circuit map. The Twingo also benefits from a matching Deep Black rear spoiler and fog light surrounds.

The pocket-rocket Twingo notably gains an all-new Renaultsport full stainless steel exhaust system, providing a suitable throaty soundtrack to match its visual presence.

On the inside, the two new versions boast a unique numbered interior plaque (1-50), Renaultsport Monitor onboard performance tracking system and grey and black Renaultsport carpet mats. The Clio also features Renaultsport Recaro front seats, Bluetooth and multi-functional TunePoint for portable music players.

Track-bred from the outset, owners of both new limited editions also receive a free Renaultsport Experience at Silverstone, usually 175, so that they can explore the full handling and performance potential of their new metal in a real circuit environment, but under the expert tuition of a fully-qualified instructor.

Renault loves film
Starting with the first film of the Lumire brothers in which Louis Renault was filmed driving his Type A voiturette and the first cinema studios built in Billancourt between 1885 and 1898 alongside Renault factories, the story between Renault and the seventh art has lasted more than a century.

Renault is passionate about all forms of cinema, supporting numerous festivals and institutions including the Cannes Film Festival, the Acadmie des Arts et Techniques du Cinma (which organizes the Csar awards and the Les Nuits en Or short film event), and the film festivals of Deauville, Alpe dHuez, Marrakesh, London, San Sebastian and Valladolid. In over 110 years, thousands of Renault cars have driven stars to sets and red carpets around the world.

Renault also works in movie and television production in France and internationally by lending out cars. Renault vehicles have taken part in spectacular stunts and classic moments alongside actors in major films such as And God Created Woman, A View to a Kill and The Visitors, and more recently in Rush Hour 3 and Une Affaire dEtat (State Affairs).

Renault continues its commitment to film and television productions through an active policy of partnerships and product placement (more than 150 features and shorts in 2010).

New Renault Twingo y Clio RS Silverstone GP
