Nuevo Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS


The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS combines a 408 hp 3.8-litre flat six engine with intelligent all-wheel drive that delivers a further exhilarating dimension to the dynamics of the iconic rear-engined sports car. The 911 was first offered with four-wheel drive in 1989 and the drivetrain has been a popular option ever since. Now, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS broadens customer choice in 2011, building on the success of the two-wheel drive Carrera GTS that went on sale in December last year.

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS power unit has its origins in the 3.8-litre, six-cylinder from the Carrera S.

A comprehensive redesign of the intake duct has added 23 hp, taking the peak power output to 408 hp at 7,300 rpm. The improvement in the engine�s breathing not only increases peak power output but also its flexibility thanks to a more generous torque curve in the lower and middle engine speed range. For example, 320 Nm is available from as low as 1,500 rpm; overall, the six-cylinder engine delivers its peak torque of 420 Nm across a broad engine speed range from 4,200 - 5,600 rpm.



Fitted in combination with the uprated engine is a sports exhaust system which produces a distinctly sporty sound. Consequently, the new Carrera 4 GTS has an unmistakable acoustic signature, and this unique character is supplemented by exhaust tailpipes finished in a distinctive black surface design.

While the engine is identical to that used in the two-wheel drive Carrera GTS, the four-wheel drive version features Porsche Traction Management (PTM) to offer even more driving stability, traction and agile handling. The PTM achieves this by directing the optimal proportion of the engine torque to the front wheels via a multiple-plate clutch. Furthermore, the Carrera 4 GTS features a limited-slip rear differential as standard which contributes to the dynamic performance of the electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system, and indicates the driving focus of this new model.

The Carrera 4 GTS is fitted as standard with a six-speed manual transmission, and the Coup� model sprints from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds, the Cabriolet in 4.8 seconds. If equipped with the optional Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) seven-speed double-clutch transmission, an additional 0.2 seconds can be trimmed respectively from these acceleration times.


While driving dynamics is the prime source of attraction with a Porsche, as is typical of the Stuttgart marque, running costs are also engineered to have broad appeal. By applying the principles of Porsche Intelligent Performance, the fuel economy of these new all-wheel 911 models is identical to that of the equivalent 385 hp 911 Carrera 4S models. For example, the Carrera 4 GTS Coup� returns 26.9 mpg Combined based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) with CO2 emissions of 247 g/km.

Visually, the new Carrera 4 GTS models differ in points of detail from earlier variants with rear-wheel drive. In addition to the designation on the doors and rear lid, the distinguishing characteristic of all models with all-wheel drive is the additional reflective stripe between the tail lights. As well as the characteristic all-wheel drive wide body style, increased rear track width is added, a specification that is unique to all GTS models.


In numerous other details, the GTS models differ both visually and technically from the other Carrera models. For example, they run on 19 inch RS Spyder alloy wheels in black with a central wheel bolt and gloss-finished rims; 305/30 ZR 19 tyres are fitted on the rear axle.

Additional visual features include the Sport-Design front apron with black painted spoiler lip and special side skirts, also in black. Inside, there are sports seats for driver and passenger. Typical of the GTS, the emphatically sporting black Alcantara trim on seat centre panels, steering wheel rim, gearshift and handbrake lever, door handles and door storage box lid and extension are offered as standard. Porsche Communication Management offering touch-screen controls for the audio system is a further highlight.


The 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coup� and Cabriolet goes on sale in the UK in July 2011, priced from �83,145 for the Coup� and �90,024 as a Cabriolet.

Fitted to every 911 Carrera 4 GTS is a Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (VTS), a sophisticated vehicle security package approved to Thatcham Category 5 standard, and customers will also be able to explore the potential of their new car by participating in a complimentary course at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone.

Nuevo Porsche Cayman S "Black Edition"


The new Porsche Cayman S Black Edition combines performance and style, with a 3.4-litre flat-six engine tuned to deliver 330 hp, distinctive 19� alloy wheels finished in black and a luxurious interior. Production is limited to 500 examples worldwide, and UK sales begin in September.

The extra power is produced at 7,400 rpm (an additional 200 rpm vs the standard car), while the maximum torque remains unchanged at 370Nm at 4,750 rpm. This extra horsepower feeds directly through into the performance of the all-black mid-engined two--seater. Acceleration from 0-62 mph is improved by a tenth of a second to 5.1 seconds with the six-speed manual transmission, and to 5.0 seconds with the optional Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) respectively. With the Launch Control activated on the PDK Sport Chrono package option, acceleration improves further to 4.8 seconds.



The top speed of the Cayman S Black Edition is just over one mph faster than that of the Cayman S � 173 mph with the manual transmission and 172 mph with PDK. In line with the Porsche Intelligent Performance principles, fuel consumption of the Cayman S Black Edition remains identical to that of the standard car, despite the increase in horsepower. The Cayman S Black Edition with manual transmission returns 29.7mpg Combined, and 30.1mpg Combined with PDK. Likewise, CO2 remains 223g/km for the manual and 221g/km for the PDK.

Helping the dynamic performance of the Cayman S Black Edition further still are the lightweight Boxster Spyder wheels finished in black which, with a diameter of 19 inches, are one inch bigger than the standard Cayman S wheels and also half an inch wider than the optional 19 inch wheels offered on the Cayman S. The tyre sizes fitted are 235/35 ZR 19s on the front axle and 265/35 ZR 19s on the rear axle.

The Cayman S Black Edition features as standard Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights and LED daytime running lights, together with automatic anti-dazzle interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor.


The front seats are trimmed in black partial leather with a Porsche crest on the headrests, as well as a Sport Design steering wheel. Climate control and cruise control add to the overall comfort. A further highlight of the Black Edition interior is the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) incorporating satellite navigation. This is combined with the universal audio interface that allows MP3 player connectivity and also Bluetooth mobile phone compatibility.

The colour scheme of the Cayman S Black Edition is consistent throughout: the dashboard trim is black as are the gear lever/selector trim and the dials in the instrument cluster. The door entry guards feature �Black Edition� lettering and are made of stainless steel; the glove compartment lid bears a badge highlighting the limited edition status.

The Cayman S Black Edition costs from �50,420 and is on sale in the UK from September 2011. Customers will also be able to explore the potential of their new car by participating in a complimentary course at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone.

Nuevos motores optimizados para el Mercedes-Benz Clase E 2011


More than ever before, new petrol engines and an optimised powertrain make the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class the standard for efficiency in its segment. With a combined fuel consumption of only 6.8-7.0 litres and 8.9 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres, the E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY and E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY excel as the most economical models in their respective performance classes. Following the introduction of the new BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 models, all petrol and diesel engines in the E-Class now feature direct injection. The reduction in fuel consumption by up to 20 percent is also due to the standard ECO start/stop function and the improved 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission, which is now also available for the four-cylinder variants.

"E" for "Efficiency": this is the well-proven success formula with which the E-Class is again raising the bar, and showing how the intelligent interaction between technical innovations throughout the powertrain can reduce fuel consumption even further. For example, in the E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY a combination of third-generation BlueDIRECT injection, the new 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission and the standard ECO start/stop function has led to a decrease in consumption by 20 percent compared to the preceding model, although peak output has increased by 10 kW/14 hp to 215 kW (306 hp).



This high-tech V6 petrol engine is happy with 6.8-7.0 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres in the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle), which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 159-164 g/km. The new E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

A comparable leap in efficiency is achieved by the new E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. Despite a significantly smaller displacement (4633 cc, previously 5461 cc), the biturbo eight-cylinder with BlueDIRECT technology has gained in both output (300 kW/408 hp, previously 285 kW/388 hp) and torque (600 Nm, previously 530 Nm). At the same time its fuel consumption has fallen by around 17 percent from 10.8 to 8.9 l/100 kilometres (NEDC combined). This too is the top figure in this performance class - and is accompanied by superior performance: the new E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).


Lower fuel consumption: ECO start/stop function and 7G-TRONIC PLUS
This leap in efficiency for the BlueDIRECT engines is assisted by the standard ECO start/stop function, which is now included ex factory in the four-cylinder petrol and diesel models as well. Thanks to direct-start technology, the Mercedes-Benz system for petrol engines operates both immediately and quietly.

The automatic transmission exclusively available for the E-Class in future is 7G-TRONIC PLUS. This comprehensively improved 7-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment in the E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY and E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. The features of this latest evolutionary stage include a new torque converter with reduced slip, an ECO shift programme with an improved ratio spread and an auxiliary oil pump to maintain the operating pressure during automatic stops. Low-friction components and low-viscosity fluid help to reduce the operating pressure.


Major leap in efficiency: the four-cylinder diesel engines in the E-Class
Particularly in the four-cylinder variants of the E-Class, the ECO start/stop function and 7G-TRONIC PLUS make for a considerable increase in efficiency. The engine specialists have also optimised the oil pressure control and belt drive, and equipped the turbocharger with a self-regulating compressor.

Result: In the E 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (125 kW/170 hp) and E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (150 kW/204 hp) the NEDC consumption CO2 emissions in combination with the 6-speed manual transmission are now only 5.0-5.3 l/100 km and 130-139 g/km. In the automatic version they have fallen by 16 percent to 4.9-5.3 l/100km and 129-138 g CO2/km*. This makes the E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY the most efficient diesel model in its performance category in the luxury class. Both the 6-speed manual and 7G-TRONIC variants of the 100 kW (136 hp) E 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY entry-level diesel now have a combined NEDC fuel consumption of only 5.1-5.4 litres per 100 kilometres (134-141 g CO2/km).

Updating the powertrain has also led to more fuel efficiency in the four-cylinder petrol engines. The 135 kW (184 hp) E 200 BlueEFFICIENCY with 7G-TRONIC PLUS now has an NEDC consumption of only 6.5-6.9 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres (152-160 g CO2/km). The figures with the manual 6-speed transmission are 7.1-7.4 l/100 km (169-176 g CO2/km).

Exclusively equipped with the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission, the E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY (150 kW/204 hp) has a 13 percent lower NEDC fuel consumption than before at 6.6-7.0 l/100 km. CO2 emissions have fallen to 154-162 g/km. This means that the E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY is likewise at the top of its class with respect to efficiency.

Luxury class with bivalent natural gas drive: E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY
The E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY with bivalent natural gas drive rounds off the comprehensive update to the engine range for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The 120 kW (163 hp) four-cylinder in the Saloon can be operated on both premium petrol and natural gas. In addition to the petrol tank, three natural gas tanks are safely accommodated in the only bivalent natural gas model in the luxury class - one behind the rear seat backrest and two under the boot floor.

They have a combined capacity of 121.5 litres of natural gas, corresponding to 19.5 kilograms. In natural gas operation, the combined NEDC consumption of the E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY has fallen by 0.6 kilograms to 5.5 kilograms per 100 kilometres. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 149 grams per kilometre. In petrol mode the combined consumption has been reduced to 8.1 l/100 km.

La nueva gama del Alfa Romeo Mito sale a la venta en Mayo en Reino Unido


A significantly revised MiTo range will shortly become available through Alfa Romeo�s 52-strong UK dealer network.

The Italian sporting car manufacturer, which is enjoying a strong and sustained sales surge in 2011, has just released details of the new range � all of which are designed to make owning an Alfa easier and more attractive than ever, with lower entry prices combined with higher standard specifications, and a new congestion-busting sub-100g/km CO2 version.

The MiTo sports compact range has been streamlined from 17 versions to nine, with both Turismo and Lusso trim levels being replaced with the Sprint; entry level versions are now known as Progression, and Distinctive and Quadrifoglio Verde versions replace Veloce and Cloverleaf.



Prices have been reduced across the range, and now start at �12,250 OTR for the entry level 1.4 8v Progression, rising to �17,955 OTR for the 1.4 TB MultiAir 170bhp Quadrifoglio Verde.

In terms of enhanced specification, Distinctive (formerly Veloce) and Quadrifoglio Verde (Cloverleaf) are both enriched with additional equipment, including Cruise Control, Sports pedals and rear parking sensors.


Three new engines become available: 1.4 8v 78bhp (available in Progression and Sprint, replacing the 1.4 16v 95bhp unit) for lower emissions, superior MPG and Start&Stop as standard; 1.4 MultiAir 105bhp (available with Sprint or Distinctive trims) for superior power, torque and MPG (compared to the 1.4 16v 95bhp engine); and the new congestion charge/tax busting 1.3 JTDM-2 (Sprint only, replacing the 1.3 16v 95bhp unit) which produces a spritely 85bhp and just 95g/km of CO2, which means free travel in the congestion charge zone, together with free road tax and first registration fee. Business users can also claim 100 per cent capital allowance in the first year of ownership.

Finally, the Alfa MiTo will become available in Metal Bronze, a colour entirely new to the Alfa range, having been previewed at this year�s Geneva Motor Show. On Progression and Sprint versions, it can also be chosen with new Sprint Bronze upholstery.

The front-wheel-drive intelligent electric neora is propelled by the 180kW electric induction motor.
