The 2011 Ford Escape ranks 15 out of 23 Affordable Compact SUVs. The Ford Escape lead the compact SUV segment back when it was first introduced in 2001. Ford has added HD Radio this year and this feature compliments the much loved SYNC entertainment system, programmable MyKey and active park assist, a system which allows the Escape to parallel park itself with very little driver involvement. The 2011 Ford Escape offers all but one new feature over the 2010 model: HD Radio. The 2011 Ford Escape is available in three trims the base XLS, XLT and top-of-the-line Limited. The Escape also comes in a, which is reviewed separately and costs $9,000 more than the gas-only Escape. Options available on the 2011 Escape include Ford�s SYNC in-car entertainment system, active park assist which can parallel park the car with little driver involvement and MyKey, a programmable key which can set a speed limit on your Escape.

The 2011 Ford Escape standard engines choices include either an updated 2.5-liter four-cylinder, delivering 171 horsepower and 23 city / 28 highway mpg in manual and FWD guise or 21 city / 28 highway with a six-speed automatic. The next engine in the line is the optional V6, which happens to pack 240 horsepower and returns 19 / 25 mpg numbers when pulled by the front wheels only. Adding four-wheel drive will drop the numbers to 18 /23 mpg. The third engine option comes in the form of a hybrid drivetrain that pairs a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle inline-four-cylinder engine with a permanent-magnet electric motor. This advanced powertrain pumps out a combined 177 horsepower and returns the best-in-class city fuel economy of 34 miles per gallon, with a 31 highway rating on the FWD model.

To help encourage safer teen driving, Escape comes standard with the Ford-exclusive MyKey� programmable vehicle key. Parents simply program the vehicle key through the message center to incorporate features such as:
� Limited top speed of 80 mph
� Traction control system that limits tire spin cannot be deactivated
� Audio system volume control limited to 44 percent of maximum volume
� Speed alert chime at 45, 55 or 65 mph
Active Park Assist
The class-exclusive active park assist system option uses sensors on the front and rear of the vehicle, working in conjunction with electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), to guide the vehicle into a parking space.
