2010 Aston Martin Rapide: Production Amidst Slow Sales

If y?u read the reports ?f Aston Martin shifting production ?f its Rapide fr?m its Magna Steyr contract facility in Austria t? its ?wn plant in England, and wondered h?w the company c?uld absorb an?ther assembly line, we c?uld have ?ur answer right here.

Acc?rding t? reports, Aston is preparing t? significantly cut production ?f the Rapide in resp?nse t? lagging sales. The four-d??r Aston was planned in 2007 f?r 2000 units per year, but shortly after that, the gl?bal luxury market collapsed, and sales pr?spects f?r the four-door c?upe began t? dwindle.
As a result, pr?ducti?n of the Rapide c?uld be reduced to just 1,250 units per year, ?r even further. And if ?ne model's sales are dwindling, we might assume that s?me ?f the others such as the Vantage ?r DB9/DBS lines could be cutting back pr?ducti?n as well, leaving excess capacity at the company's headquarters in Gayd?n, Warwickshire.
Whether demand is there ?r n?t, sources estimate that the premature terminati?n ?f the Magna Steyr deal could end up costing Ast?n as much as 10 million that's ?ver $16 milli?n at current exchange rates.
