Ford 1.0L EcoBoost Three-Cylinder And Eight-Speed Transmission!!

Ford Gr?up Vice President ?f Global Product Development, has c?nfirmed that the Dearborn aut?maker will offer turb?charged EcoBoost p?wertrains in 90 percent ?f its vehicles here in the United States by 2013. This j?urney f?r full-line forced-inducti?n started with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 f?und in the Taurus, Flex and F-150, as well as the Linc?ln MKS and MKT. Next, we will be seeing a 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-f?ur under the h??d of the Edge and Explorer, and n?w, Ford has c?nfirmed development ?f a 1.0-liter EcoB??st three-cylinder engine.

This 1.0-liter, inline-three will be the smallest engine in F?rd's portf?lio, and it will find its way under the hood ?f vehicles across the gl?be. N? specific output ?r fuel economy numbers have been divulged just yet, but J?e Bakaj, Ford's Vice President ?f Global Powertrain Engineering, says that the 1.0-liter triple will pr?vide similar power t? the automaker's 1.6-liter naturally aspirated f?ur, while improving fuel ec?nomy. When asked, Bakaj tells us that the fuel ec?n?my improvements will be similar in percentage t? those with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 c?mpared t? a naturally aspirated V8.
F?rd says it plans t? announce m?re information ab?ut the 1.0-liter engine at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, including exactly what vehicles will be p?wered by this mill. Since F?rd is benchmarking its 1.6-liter engine here the p?werplant used in the Fiesta, we did expect that this EcoBoost three alm?st certainly sl?t into Ford's smallest ?ffering here in the States.
The Blue Oval has als? confirmed that it is w?rking ?n an all-new eight-speed automatic transmissi?n, which is being designed, engineered and built by Ford in-h?use. Bakaj states that the eight-speed aut?matic will offerbest-in-class shift smo?thness and resp?nsiveness.
